Gerry Philipsen
Gerry Philipsen is Professor of Speech Communication at the University of Washington, Seattle, where he is also the Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect of the Faculty Senate. His research focuses on the ethnography of speaking, speech codes theory, contemporary cases and perspectives on the discourse of difference, and the history of communication studies. His publications include Speaking culturally: Explorations in social communication and "A Theory of Speech Codes" in Philipsen and Terrance Albrecht, (Eds.) Developing communication theories.
